The award tells the story: The Perennial Plant Association selected Cat's Meow in 2021 because it solves the biggest complaint about catmints—flopping. Unlike traditional catmints that sprawl and flop after rain or by midsummer, Cat's Meow maintains a neat, rounded, upright form throughout the entire season. No staking, no tying up, no messy sprawl. Add in vibrant sky-blue flowers from early summer through fall, aromatic foliage, drought tolerance, deer resistance, and pollinator attraction, and you have the perfect low-maintenance perennial.
Frustrated Catmint Growers: If you've tried catmints before and been disappointed by flopping, sprawling plants that look messy by midsummer, Cat's Meow is your redemption. The sturdy, upright habit stays neat all season—no staking, no tying, no frustration.
Low-Maintenance Gardeners: Drought-tolerant once established, deer-resistant, no deadheading required, and that no-flop habit means you plant it once and enjoy years of effortless beauty.
Pollinator Gardeners: The vibrant sky-blue flowers provide nectar from early summer through fall, creating a continuous buffet that keeps your garden alive with pollinator activity.
Border Designers: The neat, rounded form creates consistent structure, and the sky-blue blooms provide months of color without the chaos of flopping stems.

Note: The images and videos on our site are the best way to show off our products and show how good we are as growers. Depending on the season you buy, you may get a plant that is smaller or bigger than the picture shows. The plant might bloom like it does on our site, but it might not. We cut off the blooms most of the time because they don’t ship well. When you buy our plants, think of them as an investment in your future garden, and enjoy the process of seeing it grow to its fullest.
Plant it in full sun for the strongest bloom and the tightest, no-flop habit. Well-drained soil is ideal, and it handles average to lean soils without issue. Once established, this Nepeta plant tolerates dry conditions better than many other perennials.
Cut back old stems in early spring to make room for fresh growth. After the first heavy flush of flowers, shear back the spent flower spikes to encourage a strong rebloom cycle. This catmint responds quickly to a midseason trim and stays neat without staking.
Some cats are drawn to the aromatic foliage, but reactions vary from cat to cat. If you’re concerned about rolling or chewing, consider placing this catmint plant where access is limited or use a simple barrier while it establishes. Catmint 'Cat's Meow' is generally considered pet-safe, but it’s still best to discourage heavy nibbling.
