Quick Start Care Guide Questions? support@bringmeatree.com
Welcome! Your plant just traveled—here’s how to help it thrive.
Plants can look a little tired after a 2–3 day shipment. That’s normal. Follow these steps to safely unpack,
rehydrate, and establish your new shrub or small tree.
Unpack Immediately (Day 0)
• Open the box right away and remove all packaging.
• Gently slide the pot out; avoid pulling stems or trunk.
• Remove plastic or wrapping (leave burlap if biodegradable).
• Water slowly if soil is dry 1–2" deep until water drains.
• Place in shaded outdoor light 24 hours for recovery.
• Trim only damaged twigs—no heavy pruning yet.
First 24–48 Hours (Acclimation)
• Keep upright and protected from wind or hot sun.
• Water only when top 1–2" soil feels dry; don’t overwater.
•
If wilted, provide morning sun, afternoon shade.
• Do not fertilize yet—allow roots to adjust first.
Planting Day (Days 1–3)
• Match sun needs and ensure drainage.
• Water plant an hour before planting to moisten rootball.
• Dig a hole twice as wide and same depth as rootball.
•
Loosen circling roots to promote outward growth.
• Plant so top of rootball is slightly above grade.
• Backfill with native soil; lightly tamp to remove air pockets.
• Soak the area thoroughly to settle soil.
• Add 2–3" mulch, keeping it off the trunk.
• Stake small trees only if needed; remove after 6–12 months.
